Through education and training, the Staff Development Committee aspires to provide a safe, functional and diverse work environment, professional development and growth opportunities, to enrich the work experience of employees and increase the quality of service to patrons.

APPRECIATION WEEK this year is the week of May 19-23, 2008.

ENRICHMENT DAY is scheduled
for Wednesday, June 18, 2008.
The Staff Development Committee is charged with assisting and advising the Personnel Librarian in identifying, coordinating, overseeing and evaluating all staff development activities offered by or through the Library.
The Staff Development Committee will assist the Personnel Librarian with:

Identifying new and recurring areas of staff development and organize those activities into a formal staff development program

Evaluating the need, availability and success of staff development activities through individual program evaluations and a periodic needs assessment

Monitoring the effectiveness of in-house programs

Identifying the cost of staff development programs and tracking development expenditures

Submitting
an annual report to the University Librarian on the activities
of the Committee and the state of staff development in the
Library

Coordinating
staff development activities with programs in the Library
, Human Resources and other campus resources
