Requests for uncataloged serials come from the Catalog Dept., and are usually addressed to the Head of Serials Cataloging. These requests are to be given highest priority in the cataloging workflow, and should be completed within one working day. If for any reason the cataloging will not be able to be completed within a day, notify the liaison in Catalog Dept. and the Head of Serials Cataloging.
Process requests in the following manner:
Complete all bibliographic and holdings work as for a typical serial. Take the issues to the intended location (or send them through campus mail, if the location is outside of the Main/Deering complex).
Notify the liaison in Catalog Dept. that the periodical has been cataloged and is now (or will shortly be) available for use at its location.
Complete all bibliographic and holdings work as for a typical serial. Create item records for all volumes. Take the volume(s) requested to the liaison in Catalog Dept. Send any volumes not requested to Marking Room.
