For print serials, the size (height or width) sometimes is a factor in determining its location. For cataloging purposes, sizes are rounded up to the nearest whole centimeter. For most collections, the following oversize designations apply:
L (Large) 28-35 cm. F (Folio) over 35 cm.
The sizes pertain to height or width; for example, a serial only 21 cm. high but 28 cm. wide is still considered to be "Large".
The oversize designation is input immediately before the call number in 852 subfield $k. Some locations may also have a special location code for oversize materials. If you cannot determine the correct location code to use for a collection not appearing below, consult with your supervisor.
For Main and Art, use the size definitions given above and the following location codes:

For Government Publications and Maps, do not use any size designation.
For Special Collections, use the following size designations and locations:

Consult with your supervisor or Special Collections if you cannot determine the proper place to put the designation.
