1. Check to see if the item has an active purchase order. If not, consult with Serials Acquisitions to see if one should be created. Some titles will not require active orders because no payments are made and no missing issues are claimed (these are usually infrequently received Africana titles or some publications for Special Collections).
2. If the title has an active order, create a check-in record.
1. Search OCLC for an updated record. If the record found provides significant updates to the Voyager record, import per instructions in SCP 96: Importing and Replacing Bibliographic Records in Voyager. If only minimal new information is in the OCLC record, do not overlay the Voyager record.

4. If it can be determined that the publication was suspended for a period of time, add a 515 note describing the suspension.
5. Use statistical category code "reo" in 949 subfield $g.
1. If present, remove the "subscription cancelled" note in subfield $z.
2. If the title has a standing order, add appropriate routing and retention notes, such as "Current issues in MAIN Periodicals/Newspaper Reading Room" or "Latest volume only retained."
3. Add the new issues to the holdings record or check-in record and do other final forwarding work as for new titles cataloged. Alert Periodical Room or the departmental library that the title has resumed publication.
