Preservation Department

The mission of the Northwestern University Library preservation program is to maintain and protect all collections in all formats. The Preservation Department promotes this mission with these activities:

Established in 1984, the Preservation Department oversees the care, treatment and reformatting of the collections on the Evanston and Chicago campuses. There are four units in the Preservation Department: Materials Processing, Brittle Book Program, Conservation Services and Digital Technology.
