Upcoming NULSA Events

Monday, November 24 until Monday, December16: Food Drive Starts. The food drive for
the Greater Chicago Food Depository begins today, Monday the 24th. As in years past, we have boxes in the staff lounge where you can donate non-perishable items such as peanut butter, rice, canned vegetables, etc. Please no glass, perishable, or homemade items. The food drive lasts until the Holiday Party on the 16th of December. You can write a check if you prefer, made out to "Greater Chicago Food Depository," and give it to Betsy Allen. Please donate to this worthy cause, particularly as this will likely be a challenging year for many area families.

Music Welcomes Stephanie Hewson

Stephanie Hewson has joined the Music Library as Listening Center Assistant. Her responsibilities include providing circulation and other public services in the Listening Center, receiving and coordinating reserve requests for sound recordings, supervising student assistants, managing stacks for books and scores, and handling all billing and fines for the Music Library.

Curt Bozif Joins Digital Collections

GovInfo's New Data Management Specialist

Sui Zhang is the new Data Management Specialist in Government & Geographic Information and Data Services. She earned her master's degree in public policy from the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago, and holds a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

NULSA's Upcoming Town Hall Meetings, Halloween Party, and Other Great Events

NULSA has announced that a part of each one of this year's monthly meetings will be devoted to a Town Hall-style discussion featuring either a person or an issue of interest to the Library staff. People will be asked to address a specific topic but will then be available for a general question-and-answer session.

A New View of the Curtis Collection

The Library Art Committee is beginning to install digital reproductions from Edward S. Curtis's The North American Indian in the administrative hallway. The originals are photogravure prints that were published between 1907 – 1930 in text volumes and portfolios, containing 2,226 images of Native American life. Fewer than 300 sets were published. A complete original set is housed in the Northwestern University Library's McCormick Library of Special Collections.
