To mark its 50th anniversary, the Melville J. Herskovits Library of African Studies hosts two meetings and exhibits significant materials from its collections.
Harriet Lightman draws on research completed as a Kaplan Center Humanities Fellow to write two articles, with Bob Michaelson, for The Chemical Bulletin.
Deborah Rose-Lefmann and Jeff Garrett publish in Global Resources, a newsletter of the Global Resources Network.
Claire Stewart presents at the Illinois OCLC Users Group workshop and publishes in the International Journal on Digital Libraries.
Jackie Sumner, a student aide in Government and Geographic Information and Data Services, earns a one-year Fulbright Fellowship to Mexico.
Judy Eckoff is the new check-in and mail assistant in the Serials Department. She received her undergraduate degree in history from Northwestern, and worked in the Newspaper/Microtext Department as a student.

A new exhibit entitled "An Experimental Tradition: Western Art Music After World War II" is on display in the lobby area outside the Music Library.
Janet Olson, Assistant University Archivist, has been named the Alice Berline Kaplan Humanities Center Library Fellow for 2005-2006.
Jeff Garrett, Assistant University Librarian for Collection Management, attended the 34th Bologna Children's Book Fair from April 13 to 16. The Bologna event is recognized as the largest and most important children's book fair in the world and Jeff attended in his role as president of the 2006 Hans Christian Andersen Award Jury. He also took time to celebrate the storyteller's 200th birthday.
Roberto Sarmiento of the Transportation Library has received Dominican University's Exemplary Service Award. The award is presented to volunteers for extraordinary service to Dominican and promotes the spirit of the university.
On April 25, DeAun Green joined the Reference Department as the new Information Commons Coordinator.
Two search committees have been formed to fill positions in the Preservation Department and in Government and Geographic Information and Data Services.
