On March 3, the Speakers Committee of the Assembly of Librarians will present a panel discussion focused on special libraries dedicated to nature and conservation. The program will feature three panelists:
Julia Bachrach, park historian and preservationist for the Chicago Park District's department of planning and development
Courtney Lavery, library manager/archivist at the Brookfield Zoo
Leora Ornstein Siegel, manager of the Chicago Botanic Garden Library
In addition to dispatching their many formal duties so efficiently, Northwestern librarians continue to find time for high-quality research and writing. Two staff members have recently published articles in professional library publications.
Thanks to staff throughout the Library, our winter publications are now in the hands of donors, faculty, and staff.

On February 28, University Library and the Medill School of Journalism will co-sponsor a panel discussion focused on media coverage of the women's movement from the 1960s to the present.
The Public Services Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Julie Borden as head of Schaffner Library.
Julie joined Northwestern University Library in 1993 as assistant interlibrary loan and reference librarian. In 1995 she became the acting head of Interlibrary Loan and in 1996 joined the Reference Department, full time, as the electronic research services librarian.
Recently, Julie managed the General Information Center at the Main Library, and was promoted to acting head of Schaffner Library on the Chicago campus in September 2004.
