Preservation gears up with new digital production specialist
A new staff member is joining the Preservation Department in a new term position, reporting to Virginia Kerr. As digital production specialist, Paul Clough will handle day-to-day implementation of scanning and quality control for the Kirtas bookscanning machine.
The Kirtas machine is being used to scan selected brittle books. Scans are sent out for printing and binding, creating replacement volumes.
Paul has previous experience in Northwestern University Library. He worked as a student text encoder in Digital Media Services for the Vesalius project, an online translation of an historical anatomy text. Recently he handled workflow issues of a different sort, as repairs coordinator for an aircraft parts distributor in Florida. We welcome Paul back to Evanston and Northwestern.
