New in print (and online)
Thanks to staff throughout the Library, our winter publications are now in the hands of donors, faculty, and staff.
Footnotes
The winter issue of Footnotes, distributed to donors and staff early this week, includes articles on:
• The Library’s new collection development strategy, focused on seven “Collections of Excellence”
• Claudia Swan’s Board of Governors’ lecture on the history of museums and collecting
• D.J. Hoek, the new head of the Music Library
• The participation of librarians and staff in Northwestern’s residential colleges program.
Many thanks to Lori Arp, Russ Clement, Jeff Garrett, Harrie Hughes, Esmeralda Kale, Scott Krafft, Harriet Lightman, Russell Maylone, Tom O’Connell, Janet Olson, Catherine Wirth, and Dan Zellner for their help with content, artwork, and photography for this issue.
Library Briefings
The Library’s faculty e-newsletter was also published in February, with articles on topics ranging from VideoFurnace to recent acquisitions (wonderfully illustrated) in the Charles Deering McCormick Library of Special Collections. My thanks to the Public Relations Advisory Committee for helping to plan and develop content for the newsletter. Members of the Public Relations Advisory Committee include Lori Arp, Tim Hagan, Harrie Hughes, Scott Krafft, Lucy Lyons, Steve Marek, Catherine Morse, and Jeannette Moss. I’d also like to thank Beth Clausen, Steve DiDomenico, Esmeralda Kale, Tom Mann, Bob Michaelson, Janet Olson, and Claire Stewart for their contributions to this issue.

I appreciate the support that comes from all parts of the Library in putting these publications together.
