We ask that you keep shift changes to an absolute minimum. For more
information about the Multimedia Center's policy regarding work schedules,
please refer to the Basic Policies for Student Consultants.
Trading Shifts
Once your schedule is completed, you are expected to adhere to it for
the entire quarter. If absolutely necessary, you do have the option
of
finding someone to work your shift for you.
- Post a message to the Multimedia
Center Staff Listserv. Ask your fellow employees to trade with you.
- Call everyone on the staff phone list if your listserv posting fails
to yield a response.
- Write down the planned shift change on the sub sheet located on the
Multimedia Center Staff bulletin board under "Variations in Hours NUL".
- Notify the Multimedia Center Supervisor of the planned shift change
via email.
Calling-in Sick
If you are too sick to come to work, here's what to do:
- Call as early as possible. If you're incredibly sick and you
think that you may have to call-in sick, it's better to do it sooner
than later. Extra time allows us to try to make up for your absence.
- Talk to the Multimedia Center Supervisor and not a student consultant.
Unless you inform your Supervisor directly of your inability to come
to work, you run the risk of the message not reaching the right person.
Calling-In Late
If you're running late, you should always call. It's simple, it's easy,
and it's generally more well-received than simply strolling in late.
- Call as soon as you think that you may be late. It's better to call-in
late and then actually show up on time than it is to just show up late
for your shift.
- Talk to the Multimedia Center Supervisor and not a student consultant.
Unless you inform your Supervisor directly of your inability to come
to work, you run the risk of the message not reaching the right person.
