Room Activities and Scheduling (Meeting Maker)
The atmosphere at the service counter can often get overwhelming, but you cannot allow it to sidetrack you from keeping up-to-date on everything that is going on in the Multimedia Center. Stay aware of the activities that are scheduled in the three viewing rooms of the Multimedia Center: the Forum Room, the Video Theater, and the Seminar Room (room 3746). The Meeting Maker software program will help you stay on top of these activities.

Meeting Maker is the software program that the Northwestern University Library uses to organize, schedule, and plan its activities. The Multimedia Center maintains an up-to-date listing of all activities scheduled to occur in our rooms on Meeting Maker, so you should always have this program running on the computer while you are working. In case you are unfamiliar with how to get Meeting Maker started and how to use it, here's a brief guide to help you out:

  1. Launch Meeting Maker from the icon, or see it minimized at the bottom of the screen..

  2. You may see a prompt window labelled "Welcome to Meeting Maker". The letters "mfac" should appear in the blank for "Name". You need to enter "mfac" as the "password," followed by clicking on the "Sign-In" option in order to proceed.

  3. Close the first window that opens up. You now need to bring up the schedules of the three Multimedia Center viewing rooms:
    • Drag down the menu labeled "Proxy."
    • Scroll down the long list of proxies and highlight "NUL *3746 Seminar Room", "NUL *Forum Room", and "NUL *Video Theater" by holding down the "Shift" key and using the mouse to click on these three proxies. When all three have been highlighted, click on the "OK" option.
    • These three proxies should nicely organize themselves along small columns on the screen. If this didn't happen and instead you have a bunch of separate larger windows, you need to drag down the menu labelled "View" and select the "Tile Daily" option.
    • To access information regarding which media needs to be shown for a particular event, double click on the event and select the "Notes" option in the event window. If the media is from our collection, be sure to have it ready before the class arrives. Watch for special instructions in the NOTES field.

  4. If Meeting Maker is not working properly and you cannot access any of the room schedules, please contact Carol Anthony.

  5. If someone asks if they can schedule a viewing room, please refer them to Carol Anthony. If full-time staff members are not present, you may give them a Multimedia Center business card and ask them to call or email the department. Business cards are housed on the service counter in the business card holder. A full-time staff member will get back to them.
