Certain events held in the Forum Room and Video Theater require that a
signal which is to be viewed from the main rack be patched to a specific
room.
These events usually need to use the
TV tuner
or a multi-standard VCR/DVD player, or the 3/4" Umatic deck. Before you
simply use the Touchscreen to patch a signal to these rooms, however, some
prior
set
up
is required.
Patching from the Touchscreen to the Forum Room
- Go into the Forum Room and unlock both sides of the equipment cabinet
located in the back of the Forum Room.
- In the equipment cabinet, there is a drawer under the audio cassette
deck. Open this drawer and take out the pink video patch cable and the
two black audio patch cables. Note that while the pink video cable has
only one set of connectors, the black audio cable has two sets of connectors
(one for each stereo audio channel).
- On the right side of the cabinet, find the two patch bays. These are
the long and narrow pieces of equipment in the rack that each have two
long rows of holes in them. You will be plugging the cables into these
holes. Of the two patch bays, the top light-colored bay is used for
video and the bottom black bay is used for audio.
- On the top patch bay, connect the pink video cable between the holes
marked with dots for::
- the outlet labelled "A/V Switch Input #4" (the 5th outlet from
the left on the bottom row of outlets) and
- the outlet labelled "MDA" (the 2nd outlet from the right on the
bottom row of outlets)
- On the bottom patch bay, connect the black audio cables between the
holes marked with dots for::
- the two outlets labelled "A/V Switch In #4"(the 3rd and 4th outlets
from the left on the bottom row of outlets) and
- the two outlets labelled "MDA"(the 5th and 6th outlets from the
right on the top row of outlets)
- Go over to the Forum Room podium and select the button labelled "Patch
Panel."
- Go back to the service counter in the Multimedia Center and, using
the Touchscreen, patch the desired source
into the Forum Room.
- Press "PLAY" on the specific source requested for the room
from the rack at the time it is needed for viewing.
Patching from the Touchscreen to the Video Theater
Patching is not available from the Multimedia Center's touchscreen to
the Video Theater at the present time.
