Introduction
Northwestern began the process of implementing Encoded Archival Description (EAD) in February, 2004. A working group was formed, and in September 2004, Daniel Pitti came to campus and conducted 5 days of intensive EAD training. The Northwestern EAD gateway is based on the Fedora digital library architecture, and was launched in spring 2006.
