Africana Conference Paper Index
Northwestern's Africana collection (one of the Library's Collections of
Distinction) holds a large number of individual papers in Africana conference
proceedings written in Western European languages. These papers date from
the earliest period of the Africana collections to the present. AFRC provides
online access to these individual conference papers by author, paper title,
conference title, conference name, and the Dewey call number of the conference
proceeding.
Two catalogers and one library assistant recently indexed over 50,000
individual conference papers pertaining to Africa and the African diaspora.
This project is ongoing and conference papers will continue to be added
to the AFRC index.

Siege and Commune of Paris, 1870-1971
With the combined efforts of the Special Collections, Cataloging and Preservation
departments, over 1200 photographs and images recorded during the Siege
and Commune of Paris circa 1871 were organized, cataloged and digitized.
In addition to the images in this set, the Library's Siege & Commune Collection
contains 1500 caricatures, 68 newspapers in hard-copy and film, hundreds
of books and pamphlets and about 1000 posters. Additions are made regularly.
The originals are located in
Special
Collections in the Deering Library at Northwestern University.
