Bibliographic Services Department Overview
The Bibliographic Services Department is responsible for providing bibliographical access to the collections in the Main, Schaffner, Science and Engineering, Math, and Geology libraries. Materials cataloged include printed matter, electronic resources, videorecordings, and microforms. The department also provides descriptive cataloging for serials held in the Music and Transportation libraries.
Library of Congress authorities are used to control the names and subject headings in our catalog. “See” and “see also” references are made to guide users to the appropriate headings, and old headings are continually updated.
Typically it takes about three days to complete the cataloging and labeling of a resource, but we can rush a book through in one day when a rush request is received.
